“Some people think little girls should be seen and not heard, But I say...
Oh Bondage! Up yours!
1, 2, 3, 4!”
Poly Styrene, 1977
Oh Bondage, Up Yours! is an exhibition for POW! Thanet 2020, featuring artists who’s works are driven by political or social themes and celebrates the relationship between art and politics.
The works included in this exhibition denote a variety of approaches to making artwork of a political nature. Some challenge narratives and others give pause for thought, some are overt whilst other works are more subtle and nuanced, some pose questions while others suggest answers.
Placards, painting, posters, activism and sculpture are just some of the ways you will see the manifestation of thoughts and voices.
